CRS shares recent research and innovative practices at global AIDS meeting

CRS shared one of its successful approaches in HIV prevention and care at the International AIDS conference, held in Vienna, Austria, from July 18-23. In an oral presentation, the organization discussed the use of traditional burial societies in Ethiopia as an avenue for helping people living with HIV and AIDS, and caring for orphans and vulnerable children (OVC).

CRS also shared information about its experience with AIDSRelief, a five-member consortium that provides care and antiretroviral treatment to people living with HIV in nine countries. CRS was appointed lead agency for AIDSRelief in 2004 by the U.S. President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR). The Chief of Party of AIDSRelief made a presentation at a pre-conference on the importance of capacity building and local ownership in ensuring funding sustainability. The agency made numerous other presentations and also distributed materials via an information booth at the conference. For links to all CRS presentations at AIDS 2010, click here.
