Haiti’s child malnutrition rates are among the highest in the Caribbean. Through CRS’ Maternal and Child Health Nutrition Program, CRS and community volunteers have set up rally posts, strengthened health centers and created mothers’ clubs. As a result, the child malnutrition rate in this area has been reduced from 14 percent to 8 percent.

Climate change threatens one million maize and bean farmers in Central America

Higher temperatures and changes in rainfall patterns could transform the agricultural landscape of Central America, threatening the livelihoods of one million maize and bean farmers, according to a pioneering report that for the first time takes a specific look at the impact of climate change on a local level. The report exposes the risks of climate change to these two most-important food crops in Nicaragua, Honduras, El Salvador and Guatemala.

Help us continue our highly successful camp closure program in Haiti

Catholic Relief Services has successfully closed two camps in Haiti, resettling 100% of the families living in each camp. We expect to finish closing a third camp in August 2012. The program has been so effective that the International Organization for Migration is launching a pilot project based on CRS’ innovative model. Learn how our camp closure program works.
