Call for Applications from Technology Solution Providers

Creating Value Through ICT4D Partnerships: NGOs, Government and the Private Sector Innovating Together

Applicants: CRS is seeking applications from vendors, nongovernmental organizations and government agency teams to present at the 2012 ICT4D conference on the theme of partnerships. In order to be considered, projects should meet the following criteria:

  1. Successful deployment/use in the field.
  2. Relevant to major NGO service sectors, including health, agriculture, education, microfinance, distance learning, emergency response and monitoring and evaluation.
  3. Demonstrated impact on the quality of relief and development programs.
  4. Ongoing value to developing communities.

Applications: Interested applicants should submit a description (300 words or less) of the solution describing:

WHAT

  • What is the problem being solved?
  • What is the technology solution (hardware, software requirements)?
  • How does the solution work?
  • What has been the impact of the solution (efficiencies, cost savings, reach in terms of clients, etc.)?

WHO

  • Who developed the solution (partnership between NGOs, government and/or private sector parties)?
  • Who is the primary client/user?

HOW

  • What is your business model (including costs, income stream, strategy for scaling up, sustainability strategy)?
  • How has the solution changed to fit your audience?

WHERE and WHEN

  • Where has the solution been used?
  • When was the solution tested and how long has it been used?

Applications should be sent to CRSICT4DConference@global.crs.org by January 27, 2012. Successful applicants will be notified by February 7th.

Audience: We anticipate approximately 100 participants, comprising NGO directors, project managers and field staff; international donors; and government actors from across the Central Africa region.

What to expect: The conference will feature 10–12 solution providers. Small groups of participants will rotate between the various speakers. Each speaker will repeat a 20-minute talk with time for questions and answers for each group that visits him/her. Each speaker can expect to repeat the presentation multiple times throughout the day. CRS will plan a time for the presenters to meet and greet each other and exchange ideas and information.

Cost: Presenters are to cover their travel, accommodation and visa costs.
