Improving cost recovery in the treatment of malaria at the community level in Benin

For children under five in Benin, malaria is a constant threat that can quickly lead to death if left untreated. Despite the prevalence of the illness, only 40% of the population uses government health centers because they are located too far away from their homes. A community-based care delivery system enacted by CRS and its partners has contributed to a solution, providing treatment to children within 24 hours of the onset of fever.

Sierra Leone: Teaching life skills to decrease HIV rates among young people

CRS and its local partners have implemented a program to help young people in Sierra Leone acquire skills for informed decision-making, peaceful conflict resolution, and empowerment as well as obtain basic information about HIV in order to reduce transmission and stigma. The program, called Windows of Hope, uses a dual approach to reach students, with instruction in schools as well as Life Skills Centers established and staffed by the project.

La stratégie mobile de sensibilisation pour combattre le paludisme au Niger

Ce feuillet décrit un projet du CRS au Niger qui vise à sensibiliser les populations isolées en utilisant des caravanes dotées de projecteurs, postes téléviseurs, films vidéo éducatifs, groupes électrogènes et autres outils pédagogiques. Grâce à un partenariat entre le CRS et le Ministère de la santé publique, le projet utilise les agents des services de l’Etat et ses infrastructures dans la mise en oeuvre des caravanes.
